Product Description

Describe Your Product The Smart Mom Sak is a waterproof bag which provides moms with a unique and discreet solution for holding liquid in an enclosed container that is disposable, sealable and non-transparent. The Smart Mom Sak can hold leftover food, wet clothes, dripping ice cream cones and other liquid messes such as vomit. They come in a pack of 12 to a bag and can be kept in a purse, glove box or under the car seat.

Origin of Your Idea I thought of the idea after my son threw up in the middle of church and I had nothing to catch it in. A few days later while on a plane, I realized that an air sickness bag holds not only vomit, but other liquids that moms come in contact with on a daily basis. The best thing about the Smart Mom Sak is that it’s non-transparent — so you don’t see the waste (and it’s sealable too)!

What’s Innovative About Your Product? It’s an existing product used in a new, innovative way.

Who’s Your Target Market? It’s formulated and designed specifically for moms.

Have You Submitted this Idea to the Huggies® MomInspired™ Grant Program Before? No

Step 4: Your Plan

Strategy & Tactics

Describe the Current Status of Your Idea Currently the Smart Mom Sak is sold on the Internet. We’ve sold about 3,000 units through viral marketing initiatives. To our surprise, there are many people and organizations beyond moms who purchase the Smart Mom Sak as well!

Share Your Future Plans and Business Goals We get calls all the time from organizations wanting to purchase in bulk. However, because of funding, we cannot source the product at an affordable price. We would like to produce the Smart Mom Sak in a higher quantity so we can lower the price for our consumers. We would also like to extend distribution into big box retailers. We also feel that we could produce the Smart Mom Sak in different designs based on various markets, such as for school clinics and hospitals.

How Will You Use the Grant to Help Your Business Grow? We would use the money to source the product and import another round of product at a new price point.

Have You Applied for or Received Any Loans or Grant Money Previously? No

Challenges & Risks

Who Are Your Main Competitors? We currently have no competitors. We are the only company producing bags for consumers — other than airline supply companies.

What Are the Biggest Risks You Anticipate in Reaching Your Goals? The greatest risk is getting stuck with excess product.
