My son Paul was born five weeks premature, and he was colicky. The only thing that helped him feel better was being carried in a “colic-cradle hold” that our pediatrician recommended. Holding him that way put pressure on his stomach, and it worked, but it took both hands, and my husband and I weren’t getting anything done around the house. We looked for a hands-free solution to get the same result and invested in a lot of different products that didn’t work. The main thing missing from all of them was the pressure on the tummy. We brainstormed a way to replicate that pressure and provide multiple hands-free solutions for busy, multi-tasking parents like us. The Colic Cradler can be used both as a chair and a carrier. We also worked with an architectural designer to create something stylish. If something is going to be a permanent fixture in your living room, you want it to mimic your style.
We’re currently in the process of exploring prototyping companies and going through that bidding process. We hope to get a great prototype and begin preorders soon. It’s my hope that we’ll be able to donate a percentage of future proceeds to the March of Dimes because we had such great support from the neonatal intensive care unit when Paul was born.
